Carisa Collins
Name: Carisa Collins
Board Position: 2023/2024 Director
Bio: I have been involved with cheerleading across Canada since 2008 as both an athlete and coach. I have experience in scholastic, all-star, and collegiate cheer ranging from Mini (U6) Level 1 all the way to Collegiate Level 7, and just about everything in between. I started in St. John’s, Newfoundland before moving to the Greater Toronto Area, and then landing in Calgary, Alberta. In addition to coaching cheerleading, I have my PhD in Forensic Psychology and work as a senior researcher at a non-profit for children with complex mental health issues and their families. My approach to coaching focuses on technical development of athletes, while instilling a sense of pride in working hard and performing at a high level of execution. I preach technique over difficulty and always want my athletes to feel good about themselves in everything they accomplish on and off the mat. I am excited to start the next chapter of my journey with cheerleading and lean into PTSO involvement!
