Coach Tip:
Remember, you are describing what each athlete is doing and what the GOAL technique IS, not “what if” scenarios.
ACA & ICU facilitators will use the following grading scale to assess coaches. To pass, the majority of the CIT’s or Coach’s responses must be either Very Satisfied or Satisfied.
Not Satisfied
The coach struggles to describe basic skill composition requirements and is unable to give an accurate description of the skill from start to finish.
Somewhat Satisfied
The coach is unfamiliar with the skill and is theorizing how it would be performed. Due to their experience and knowledge of similar or progressional skills, they can vaguely describe the skills; however, they are missing key points that are essential to the success of the skill. They lack confidence, and their articulation is not efficient or resourceful.
Satisfied
The coach adequately explains the skill in its entirety. They lack the agile articulation and in-depth description that comes with experience; however, the description is acceptable as it accurately describes the requirements of the skill.
Very Satisfied
The coach is confident, efficient, and articulate when explaining the skills from start to finish. They can explain detailed nuances of the skills and techniques used in varying situations, and they can articulate their knowledge of progressions and drills while teaching the key points. Overall, their explanation is thorough, clear, and confident.
